Full-scale start of classes in Nippon Paint's third year of collaborating with Imamiya Technology High School
2022/05/24
Nippon Paint Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku Tokyo, President: Masuo Kida) concluded an industry-academia collaboration agreement with Osaka Prefectural Imamiya Technology High School (Location: Nishinari-ku Osaka, Principal: Tomokazu Komai) in March 2020. The agreement aims to achieve industrial education that has greater appeal. And the third year of collaborative education has already kicked off.
In the graphic design course of this school, which has been designated as a problem based learning (PBL) model school by Osaka Prefecture, students set their own themes selected from their interests in various design fields and work on solutions over a year. Within that approach to lessons, Nippon Paint positions the school's graphic design course students as our "marketing department external planning team" and conduct lessons in a PBL manner via paints, to help students create and produce graphic works close to the requirements of the real world. Through these activities, we provide the students with opportunities to learn empirically and practically from planning to execution and presentation.
The first collaborative lesson of the year was held on 11 May (Wed), commencing with a presentation introducing Nippon Paint and the story of paints, we then split the students into two groups and set about brainstorming sessions to look at the themes students want to undertake.
