Winner of Top Award from 24th GOOD PAINTING COLOR AWARDS
2022/01/14
Nippon Paint's Color Group won three awards - Top Award, Award for Excellence and Special Award - in the "Repair Segment" at the Environmental Color Competition GOOD PAINTING COLOR (GPC) Awards organized by Japan Paint Manufacturers Association, Japan Paint Commerce Association and Japan Painting Contractors Association.
The judges extolled the way in which our Color Group brings balance to surrounding environments and corporate identities in the award-winning projects. Here are some photos and comments to show you what they mean.
● Top Award: Exterior coating of apartment buildings Lumine Seiseki Sakuragaoka (Tokyo)
Winner: Junko Sato
Judge's comment: The usual monotonously vague impression imparted by apartment blocks has vanished and been replaced by a calm architectural demeanor appropriate to a hilly location by the subtle control of brightness and hues, which play the role of connecting the left and right buildings with their differing exterior expressions to realize a continuity in the cityscape.
● Merit Award: Exterior coating of apartment block SEIKO CORPORATION Fujikawa Plant (Shizuoka Prefecture)
Winner: Maki Ikeda
Judge's comment: It is well known that it is difficult to harmonize architecture with a lush natural landscape using cool colors - yet, the winner solved the issues posed by the need to express corporate identity by proposing a detailed color scheme and selection of colors.
● Special Award: Exterior coating of apartment block Diamond Maison Kitasuzurandai (Hyogo Prefecture)
Winner: Yuriko Inomata
Judge's comment: Among the many light brown properties seen in Japan, the accents of off-white color used in this project enhance the 3D design, giving the property a presence suitable to the elevated land it stands on.
