| First in the paint
industry to achieve corporate-wide ISO 14001 certification |

| After passing audits performed by a qualified
auditing organization in Japan, Japan Chemical Quality Assurance,
Ltd., Nippon Paint Co., Ltd. has achieved corporate-wide ISO
14001 (JIS Q14001-1996) certification (Registration No. JCQA-E-0043). |
|
| This achievement ISO-certified the company's
headquarters as well as all offices and plants in Japan. Certification
also covers the company's entire business lines -- from paint
products to surface treatment chemicals, films, and resins as
well as painting, coating and processing systems. In addition,
all operations from product development, design and purchasing
to production, sales and after-sales service fall under ISO
certification. Such a degree of comprehensive coverage is a
rare achievement for the entire chemicals industry, not just
the paint industry. |

| Since joining the Japan Responsible Care
Council (JRCC) in 1995, Nippon Paint has been actively committed
to environmental conservation activities, strictly conforming
to an environmental policy which states: |

Since 1997, Nippon Paint has been working on the development
and upgrading of an environmental management system that conforms
to ISO 14001 requirements. |
